Who is David Matthew Klein?
David Klein has been a lover of the performing and visual arts from a very young age. Born and raised in Florida, he began piano lessons and dance classes at the age of five. David's interest in theatre began to grow when he attended Broward Arts Camp, a performing arts camp in Weston, Florida. This was David's first time being involved in musical theatre and his passion for it has continued to grow since.
David Klein grew up in Davie, FL and attended Cypress Bay High School where he was an active member in the school's Marching Band and Wind Ensemble as well as the American Musical Theatre class. David is a skilled flautist and was honored to be accepted into the Wind Ensemble, the highest ranking concert band, for all four years of high school. His skills in marching band qualified him to be Drum Major his junior and senior year of high school, leading the band to win first place at the Lehigh Acres Marching Band Festival. As well as being a member of the marching band, David was active in his Musical Theatre class for five semesters. David was a part of main stage productions, cabarets, as well as district and state thespian competitions.
David studied at Broward College and received his Associate in Arts degree. While at Broward College David took numerous theatre courses and was involved in a number of main stage productions as an actor, assistant stage manager, and a dramaturg. David later received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Musical Theatre at the University of Central Florida. Some credits at UCF include Jim/Tom in Clybourne Park, Eddie Ryan in Do Black Patent Leather Shoes… Lane in The Importance of Being Earnest, Head Waiter U/S and Dramaturg in She Loves Me, and other roles.
David began teaching for OCPS in 2018. During his time teaching he taught First Grade, Sixth Grade Science, TV Production, and Theatre . After leaving the classroom he went back to theatre, this time as a Carpenter, Automation Carpenter, and a Technician for multiple productions at Orlando Shakes and Renaissance Theatre Co.
David is currently back performing after taking a leave of absence from acting due to an accident that occurred March of 2017. David is currently working for Universal Orlando Resort in various aspects as well as continuing to build for Orlando Shakes and Renaissance Theatre Co. When David isn’t at work, he enjoys cooking, kayaking, doing home renovations, or simply watching TV with his loving Husband.
